St Austell Brewery

Travel Press Office

Travel press office across the pub and hotel estate: 113 pieces of coverage and 1.27bn total reach.

1.27bntotal reach
113pieces of coverage

The brief

St Austell Brewery's estate spans dozens of pubs with rooms across the South West, from Pedn Olva in St Ives and The Pier House in Charlestown to The Wellington in Boscastle, the Royal Castle in Dartmouth and the Copley Arms in Hessenford. The brief was to secure a constant stream of national and lifestyle consumer press inclusions in top-tier titles for target properties.

What we did

As well as hosting top-tier titles at newly reopened properties, we created a continuous programme of individual press trips, matching the property to the journalist with seasonal and relevant angles from sea-view hotel reviews, coaching inn stays, dog-friendly breaks, car-free travel, coastal walks, family stays and value-led pubs with rooms.

Results

Across sprint campaigns, we delivered 113 pieces of coverage with a total reach of 1.27bn. The team see a correlation between coverage appearing and bookings and enquiries rising, and the Pedn Olva is predominantly fully booked, all year round.

Coverage highlights

  • Reviews in The Times, The Guardian, MailOnline, The Telegraph, The Sun, Coast, Homes & Antiques, the Western Morning News and British Travel Journal, all earned through press trips.
  • Pipeline includes The Telegraph, Cornwall Life, Devon Life, BRITAIN and Condé Nast Traveller.

Liba Vineyard

Travel Press Office

Six months into an ongoing staggered campaign: 25 pieces of coverage, 67.8m reach and a fully booked August.

67.8mreach in six months
100%August occupancy

The brief

Liba Vineyard needed to introduce itself to UK travel and lifestyle press from a standing start. A new Wiltshire vineyard and glamping business with no media profile, launched by a family who had left corporate careers in London to build it.

The brief was not a single launch moment. It was a staggered, commercially led campaign: build credibility with top-tier titles, then keep the story moving month by month so coverage lands when it can actually influence bookings.

What we did

We built a phased press office, sequencing the story across founder interviews, the stay experience, seasonal hooks and community moments so there was always a fresh, timely angle rather than one announcement to reheat.

Press trips sit at the centre, with each journalist individually matched and briefed around the specific feature they are working towards. Nine media visits were hosted in the first six months, with a further three confirmed into October and a strong pipeline of consideration from national titles for 2027 and beyond.

Alongside the travel and lifestyle programme, we ran business and regional outreach around the founders’ story and community open days, and reactive work to capture round-up and gift-guide opportunities such as English Wine Week, Father’s Day and last-minute summer breaks.

Results

The first six months of the campaign delivered 25 pieces of coverage with a combined circulation of 61.4m and a total reach of 67.8m. 10 of those were solus features earned off the back of press trips. The campaign is measured on commercial output, not clippings. August reached 100% occupancy, and forward bookings are showing clear increases against the same period ahead of time, with the pattern tracking the coverage appearing.

Coverage highlights

  • Three placements landed across the Telegraph titles, including a founder interview with Chris online and in print in The Daily Telegraph, plus an inclusion in the paper’s last-minute summer breaks round-up.
  • Further highlights include solus features in Fabulous, Best, British Travel Journal (print and online), the Western Morning News and Western Daily Press, alongside round-up inclusions in Good Housekeeping, The Sun, Muddy Stilettos and House of Coco, and regional and business coverage in the Salisbury Journal syndicated to Yahoo! News. Upcoming coverage includes The Times, Woman&Home, Family Traveller and Condé Nast Traveller.

Silver Sands Holiday Park

Travel Press Office & Business PR

Full occupancy across the first three months of the Signature Cove Lodges, with every campaign KPI exceeded.

29.4mtotal reach
100%lodge occupancy, first three months

The brief

Silver Sands Holiday Park had invested £1m in upgrading its site on the Lizard, including a new collection of Signature Cove Lodges, and needed the investment to translate into bookings rather than applause.

Two audiences had to be reached at once: consumer travel and lifestyle readers who book lodges, and the business and trade press that shapes how a family-run Cornish park is taken seriously, alongside an 80-year milestone and an AA five-star rating to land.

What we did

We built a staggered press office across the year, sequencing the story so each phase had a distinct hook: late-deal and Easter opportunities first, then the AA five-star announcement, then the 80-year anniversary and investment story, then press trips through the summer as the lodges came into their own.

Consumer and business outreach ran in parallel. Business and trade titles took the investment, milestone and tourism-levy angles as solus features, while travel and lifestyle press were hosted individually to review the new lodges and the Lizard location.

Competitions were used deliberately rather than as filler - targeted at large-audience lifestyle titles and a syndicated network to drive entries, data capture and awareness into the shoulder seasons.

Results

The short project campaign delivered 21 pieces of coverage with a total reach of 29.4m, and exceeded every KPI set for it: 7 press-trip features, ten park-owned features against five, 6 competition placements and two round-ups.

Commercially, the Signature Cove Lodges reached full occupancy across their first three months open, and out-of-season occupancy is looking to match it.

Coverage highlights

  • Consumer highlights include a solus feature in The Sun in print and online, a solus in Best, a four-page feature plus a solus online review in Outdoor Swimmer, a Somerset Live feature amplified on social, late-deal coverage in the Mail on Sunday and Easter coverage in The Sun.
  • On the business side, the AA five-star rating and the 80-year investment story ran as solus features across The Business Desk, South West Business Insider, Business Live, Business Cornwall in print and online, Cornwall Live, the Cornish Guardian, Practical Motorhome and Modern Campground - including the park's warning that a tourism levy could curb future upgrades.

Rodda’s

Trade & Business PR, Product Launch

Trade launch of a £6m cottage cheese facility: 28 pieces of coverage and 1.89m reach, including The Grocer’s Big Interview.

28pieces of coverage
12titles on launch day

The brief

Rodda’s, the Cornish family dairy best known for clotted cream, has invested £6m in one of only a small number of dedicated cottage cheese manufacturing facilities in the UK.

Using a staggered approach dependent on product availability, the audience for the initial announcement was not the consumer but the trade: buyers, category managers, manufacturers and the business press. Credibility with that audience depended on the story being told as a serious investment decision inside a genuine category boom, not as a novelty line extension.

What we did

We built the launch for the trade first, timing a single announcement and focusing on a narrative-led angle, with the commercial rationale. Soaring UK cottage cheese demand and a £6m capital investment in Cornish manufacturing, rather than the product itself, which is the frame trade titles and buyers respond to.

The Grocer was worked as the priority relationship, with a seeded mention ahead of launch and then a sustained approach that converted into the Big Interview with Nicholas Rodda plus inclusion in the Cheese Category Report.

Coverage was amplified through the titles’ own newsletters and social channels, turning single placements into repeat impressions in front of the same buying audience.

Results

The launch delivered 28 pieces of coverage with a total reach of 1.89m and circulation of 1.79m, effectively saturating the UK food and drink trade press.

Coverage highlights

  • The Grocer Big Interview with Nicholas Rodda - online at 551,000 reach, in print, and newsletter top story.
  • Inclusion in The Grocer’s Cheese Category Report, placing Rodda’s in the category conversation rather than alongside it.
  • Twelve trade and business titles carried the £6m investment story on announcement day.
  • 28 pieces of coverage, 1.89m total reach, effectively complete coverage of the UK food and drink trade press.
  • Story framed on category demand and capital investment, landing it as a serious manufacturing story

Pocketful of Stones

Food & Drink Press Office

Relaunching Dr Squid Gin in time for Christmas

59.7mtotal reach
31pieces of coverage

The brief

Pocketful of Stones is an independent Penzance distillery with 23 handcrafted products across eight spirit categories - Dr Squid Gin, Caspyn Gin, Hell’s Stone Whisky, King of Prussia Spiced Rum and Monveren Absinthe among them - plus its own bars in Penzance and Falmouth.

The brief centred on Dr Squid, the distillery’s black squid ink gin: distinctive enough to earn attention, but unusual enough to be dismissed as a gimmick if it wasn’t placed in the right context. Alongside it sat a fast-growing export business that needed to be taken seriously by business and trade media.

What we did

We ran a continuous press office rather than a launch burst, giving each audience its own route in: consumer and lifestyle press for the gin and its cocktails, trade press for the bar and hospitality credentials, and business and regional press for the export and investment story.

Dr Squid was positioned inside a genuine flavour trend rather than sold as a novelty - the rise of umami and savoury notes in cocktails - with co-founder Shaun Bebington briefed as an expert voice and the distillery’s own sales data used as the evidence.

Commercial milestones were sequenced across the year: the Italian market entry with Asolo Bevande in June, then expansion into six further European countries just weeks later, each worked through business, trade and regional media.

Seasonal and gifting moments were targeted deliberately so the gin appeared in the round-ups that drive sales - summer cocktails in July, Christmas gift guides from November.

Results

The campaign delivered 31 pieces of coverage with a total reach of 59.7m and a combined circulation of 58m, across national newspapers and magazines, consumer lifestyle titles, business media and regional press.

Coverage highlights

  • The Times, online and print: umami cocktail feature built on an interview with Shaun Bebington and the distillery’s own data - 11.1m combined reach.
  • Good Housekeeping (20m) and Cosmopolitan (19m) both featured a Dr Squid cocktail in their summer cocktail round-ups
  • Evening Standard and The Times Christmas drinks guide inclusion
  • Solus features on Master of Malt, in Bounce and in Martin Hesp’s Western Morning News and Western Daily Press column.
  • The Italian market entry and the six-country European expansion each secured a full run of business, trade and regional coverage.

Product & Drinks Press Office

Consumer product PR for the brewery's beer range: 80 pieces of coverage and 70.2m reach in a year.

70.2mtotal reach
80pieces of coverage

The brief

St Austell Brewery needed a national and consumer product-led press push on its beer range. From launching Proper Job 0.5% and Anthem, to keeping the existing Tribute, Tribute EST and Mena Dhu front of mind for journalists.

What we did

We built a seasonal product calendar around the moments the drinks press already plans for - Dry January and the low-and-no conversation, summer beers, mid-strength, Christmas beer lists and Guinness alternatives - and pitched each beer into the moment it was genuinely the best answer to.

Sampling and tasting-led outreach went to the writers and critics who rate beers rather than simply list them, including Pete Brown and Nigel Barden, alongside newsdesk and syndication routes to extend a single mention across the regional print network.

We also used competitions and partnerships with large-audience lifestyle titles to put the beers in front of consumer audiences at scale, and supported new product moments with reactive round-up work.

Results

The product programme delivered 80 pieces of coverage with a total reach of 70.2m.

Coverage highlights

  • Proper Job 0.5% ranked number one in Good Housekeeping's Dry January non-alcoholic beer round-up.
  • Tribute EST in The Sunday Times Magazine's best beers of 2025, print and online.
  • Tribute selected for Pete Brown's 12 best beers of Christmas in The Times.
  • Anthem in Olive's best summer beers and The Sunday Times Magazine's best mid-strength beers.
  • Mena Dhu in the Financial Times' Guinness alternatives round-up.
  • Around 60 regional print placements via syndicated round-ups, plus national competitions with Men's Health and Women's Health.

New Opening

Launching GAIL's first Bristol bakery as the brand expanded into the South West.

52pieces of coverage
30influencer posts and stories

The brief

GAIL's was expanding beyond London and the North West, and needed its first Bristol bakery to land credibly with a new regional audience. The launch had to build local awareness and community engagement quickly, while also registering with the trade press watching the brand's national growth.

What we did

We ran a combined trade and local programme: expansion-story pitching for trade titles, alongside local and regional media outreach and stakeholder and influencer engagement in Bristol.

The announcement was staggered, with titles getting news ahead of opening, so coverage broke when it mattered commercially.

Results

The launch generated 52 pieces of quality coverage across key trade, regional, and local outlets, plus 30 Instagram posts and stories from engaged, relevant local influencers.

Coverage highlights

  • British Baker
  • Bristol World
  • Western Daily Press
  • Café Life

It is such a pleasure working with Florence. The PR and stakeholder work she did for our first South West GAIL's opening was incredible and made it our most successful bakery launch to date - and there's no coincidence there.

Event PR, Spring Flower Show

5,000 visitors through the gates and a noticeably younger audience: 74 pieces of coverage and 12.8m reach.

5,000+visitors
12.8mtotal reach

The brief

The Cornwall Garden Society Spring Flower Show is a long-established fixture with a loyal audience. Attendance depended on the same regional titles reaching the same people each year.

The brief was twofold: drive visitor numbers for a single weekend in late March, and make the show appeal to a younger audience without alienating the members and horticulturalists who are its foundation.

What we did

We ran a phased campaign from December through to the post-show release, with distinct stories for each stage: lectures and competitive class entries first, then the Eden Project partnership in its 25th year, then the regeneration and resilience theme, then a pre-show push and same-weekend broadcast, closing with a post-show results release.

To reach a younger audience, we built an influencer programme alongside the traditional media plan, hosting eleven Cornish lifestyle, family and outdoor creators on complimentary press tickets so the show was documented in stories and reels by people that audience already follows.

National lifestyle and gardening press was targeted for credibility and reach, while the regional weekly newspapers carried the detail week after week to convert local intent into ticket sales.

Broadcast was used to drive last-minute attendance, with ITV Westcountry on the Friday preview and again on the Sunday, plus radio interviews with Mark Holman across Greatest Hits, BBC Radio Cornwall and CHAOS Radio.

Results

The campaign delivered 74 pieces of coverage with a total reach of 12.8m and circulation of 10.1m, running from December 2025 through to the post-show release in April 2026.

More than 5,000 visitors attended the show, and the post-show story itself became coverage.

Coverage highlights

  • More than 5,000 visitors attended the show, with the attendance figure itself earning national syndication.
  • 1.89m of influencer reach from eleven hosted creators - the mechanism for reaching a younger audience.
  • 74 pieces of coverage, 12.8m total reach, from December through to the post-show release.
  • Two ITV Westcountry segments plus radio interviews across Greatest Hits, BBC Radio Cornwall and CHAOS Radio.
  • National print standing in Notebook, S Magazine, Country Life, Gardens Illustrated, iWeekend, Platinum and The People’s Friend.
  • Eleven repeat full pages across the Cornish weeklies driving local ticket sales.

The Christmas Orchestra

National Tour Publicity

Two touring seasons of geo-targeted publicity that turned unsold nights into sold-out ones.

78pieces of coverage
2touring seasons

The brief

The Christmas Orchestra tours a seasonal concert production to venues across the UK, from Cornwall to Glasgow, within a short and fiercely competitive selling window. Christmas entertainment is a crowded market, and ticket sales are won or lost locally: a review in a national title does nothing for an unsold Tuesday in Nottingham.

The brief was therefore commercial rather than reputational: fill specific dates in specific cities, in the weeks when audiences actually book.

What we did

We built the publicity plan around the tour schedule itself, matching every date to the regional dailies, county magazines and listings titles that sell tickets in that catchment. Each market was worked individually rather than through a single national release.

Results

Across the two touring seasons, the campaign delivered 78 pieces of coverage, covering every region of the tour. The commercial outcome was that nights that were still unsold were converted to sold out following coverage appearances, with publicity timed directly against the dates that needed filling.

Coverage highlights

  • 78 pieces of coverage across two touring seasons, matched market by market to the tour schedule.
  • National credibility from The Telegraph, The i, MSN and Yahoo News.
  • Regional depth across all tour locations including the Manchester Evening News, WalesOnline, Glasgow Times, Yorkshire Evening Post, Southern Daily Echo and the Midlands dailies.
  • Regional glossy magazine and lifestyle and listings coverage in Coast, Somerset Life, Yorkshire Life, Hampshire Life, Dorset Magazine and four Muddy Stilettos editions.

Membership PR Function, Innovation Centres

An in-house press office for the whole membership: 152 pieces of coverage, 34.6m reach and centres consistently over 85% occupancy.

34.6mtotal reach
85%+occupancy

The brief

Cornwall Innovation runs three innovation centres in the county, home to a changing community of start-ups, scale-ups and established businesses across technology, health, cyber, marine and professional services.

The centres needed to do more than provide desk space. Occupancy depends on being visibly the place where ambitious Cornish businesses base themselves.

Most member businesses are too small to retain a PR agency. Their milestones, from funding rounds, award wins, product launches, appointments, to HQ moves, were going unreported.

What we did

We built a press office that works for the membership, a PR function available to member businesses at no additional cost as a benefit of being based at the centres.

Members are worked with individually to identify the story, write the release, and place it with the business, trade and regional titles that matter to their sector and their customers.

Leadership commentary and centre milestones are layered on top, including reaction to fiscal events, appointments, anniversaries and facilities investment, keeping the centres themselves in the conversation between member stories.

Results

The programme has delivered 152 pieces of coverage with a combined reach of 34.6m and circulation of 33.7m across business, trade and regional media.

Coverage is deliberately concentrated where Cornish business decisions get made: 43 placements in Business Cornwall, 20 in South West Business Insider, 13 in the Falmouth Packet, 12 each in The Business Desk and Cornish Stuff, and repeat runs across the Cornish Guardian, West Briton, The Cornishman, BusinessLive, the Voice titles, the Western Morning News and Yahoo News.

The split - 90 online, 42 print and 20 newsletter placements - gives the centres continuous visibility rather than occasional spikes, sustained across multiple years.

Commercially, the centres have held occupancy consistently above 85%. Member feedback is emphatic that having a PR function included in membership, at no added cost, is a genuine differentiator when choosing where to base a growing business.

Coverage highlights

  • 152 pieces of coverage across 2023 to 2026, with a combined reach of 34.6m and circulation of 33.7m.
  • Repeat business press placements in The Business Desk, Yahoo News, BusinessLive, Business Cornwall, the Western Morning News, Cornish Guardian, West Briton and The Cornishman
  • Centres consistently over 85% occupancy, with PR included in membership at no additional cost cited by members as a genuine differentiator.

Retained Regional PR, UK PR Network

Five years as part of Azets’ UK PR network, delivering 1,762 pieces of quality coverage through targeted regional media.

1,762pieces of coverage
5years

The brief

Azets is one of the UK’s largest accountancy and business advisory groups, built through acquisition and operating across a dense network of regional offices. We needed to cut through the noise of the Big Four and work on a level where clients and prospective clients would read about Azets.

What we did

We worked as part of Azets’ UK PR network, handling strategic editorial placement across key regional and business titles, identifying which offices, appointments, deals, commentary opportunities and specialisms would land where.

Through consistent regional press office work using Azets’ local offices, partners and specialists, we built a consistent array of quality editorial placements across multiple regions, sustained year after year. We positioned local partners as commentators, shared regional deal activity and announced appointments to the titles that cover those markets and local areas.

Results

More than 1,700 pieces of quality coverage were secured over five years - 1,762 in total - across key regional and business titles in the South West, Wales, Midlands and the North West.

The programme demonstrated how powerful targeted regional media can be for a national brand: consistent, repeat visibility in the markets where Azets’ offices operate, and its clients are based, rather than occasional national mentions.

Coverage was sustained month on month over the full term of the contract, giving the brand continuous presence rather than campaign-led peaks.

Florence is a delight to work with. As a key member of Azets’ UK PR network, her contribution to our brand building and earned media is always outstanding. Florence delivers consistent news coverage across key regional and business titles. She is talented, reliable, personable, and well-respected by all at Azets.
