Pocketful of Stones is celebrating ten years with a £100,000 investment alongside Admiral Taverns in Newlyn’s Red Lion pub and the launch of limited-edition Caspyn Ten gin.

The Red Lion is now freshly open from the refurb, with cosy log burners and a refreshed outdoor area (as well as upgraded toilets, floors and ceilings).

Since launching in 2016, the Cornish distiller has sold more than 500,000 bottles, while a £300,000 investment in three new stills has more than quadrupled production capacity over the past 18 months.

A true example of a Cornish hospitality business investing to thrive - well done team, I can't wait to come and visit!

In April, along with these guys, I’ll be running the London Marathon in memory of my lovely Dad.

We’re hoping to raise £15,000 in aid of the PSPA and would be very grateful for any donations and support - plans are underway for pub quizzes, golf days and padel matches.

Dad was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy - a rare neurological condition that has no treatment or cure. The disease affects someone’s personality, movement, swallowing, balance and vision.

The PSPA is the only charity in the UK that helps people affected by the disease - I volunteer and run the Devon & Cornwall support group on behalf of the charity, and donations will go towards supporting groups like mine, as well as research and advocacy.

100% occupancy in August, so many lovely guest reviews, and last week, the ultimate stamp of approval from Condé Nast Traveller.

I’m so proud to be part of the journey, alongside owner Chris & marketing queen Tori. In just over six months of working together, we’ve reached 85 million people through a targeted PR strategy, and there’s SO much more to come.

It’s an absolute joy working with such lovely people, and I can’t wait to share what’s next.

It was a privilege to be asked to host a fireside

It was a privilege to be asked to host a fireside chat this morning on behalf of Cornwall Community Foundation. Hearing from two worthy recipients of grants, and two trustees & Business Club members meant that we heard about both sides of the fundraising relationship. The work that the CCF does is becoming more and more vital, and it’s so rewarding being part of it.

Back at my desk after a proper break, and it feels good! Turns out a 7-hour time difference and no signal is the perfect recipe for a restorative break.

The last 10 days gave me time to be with friends who'd travelled from Australia, meeting locals, attending ceremonies, visiting lagoons, swimming amongst rice paddies, exploring on a moped, waking up for sunrise and watching the surf.

The Copley Arms in Hessenford has unveiled new bed

The Copley Arms in Hessenford has unveiled new bedrooms alongside a cosy bar and dining space at the much-loved 17th-century riverside pub.

Run by husband-and-wife team Hannah and Jared Lothian, the pub has undergone a carefully phased renovation.

In a recent review in The Times, Sean Newsom praised it as “in a lesser-visited area of Cornwall” with “handsome rooms, good beer and a great walk on the doorstep.”

I'm delighted to have been appointed as a Trustee of Georgia's Voice, Cornwall’s dedicated mental health charity for young women aged 18–25.

I feel really lucky to be joining such a dynamic team, all focused on improving the lives of young women across the county. Our first session was full of passion, honest conversation and brilliant ideas - it’s clear there’s so much more we can do together!

Owned by St Austell Brewery and run by experienced West Country publican Roger Payne, The Crown in Lynton now offers 15 bedrooms that blend traditional character with a brighter, more contemporary feel. The refurbishment has been deliberately sympathetic, retaining much-loved features, including a collection of iconic Mick Cawston artworks displayed throughout the pub. Make sure you try the knickerbocker glory!

As the Eden Sessions draw to a close, it feels like a moment to take stock of what’s been a brilliant run - from stories on cherry blossom trees and Impatiens Ray of Hope plants to celebrating the 150th Eden Session in the charity’s 25th anniversary year. It’s been a joy to work alongside the team at the Eden Project. It’s a truly special place, made all the more so by the people behind it. Thank you!
